Single origin coffee is grown within one location or a single known geographical area. This can mean that the coffee came from a single farm or a specific country. The name of the coffee is directly associated with the place it originated; or it's origin. Each origin produces coffee with a different nuance. Coffee beans, just like grapes that create wine, have different flavor profiles according to where they are grown. Several factors from the growing region work together to create specific characteristics of each origin type. Soil, climate, species, altitude and method of processing all contribute to a specific flavor profile. There is much more to be said about this topic but we will leave you with this; many people do not realize that single origin coffees, if roasted perfectly, do not need additives!
The problem is that macro-roasting doesn't allow for time to really perfect the roast. If you are a coffee lover, you owe it to yourself to try single origin coffee roasted by a micro-roaster like JumpinGoat
